Our Mission

To defeat every child’s cancer by harnessing
and sharing the world’s genomic data

The UCSC Treehouse Childhood Cancer Initiative…

enables sharing of pediatric cancer genomic data. But more than that, it makes it possible to analyze a child’s cancer data against both childhood and adult patient cohorts across all types of cancer. This “pan-cancer” analysis of adult and pediatric tumors may identify situations where an adult drug is predicted to work on a subset of pediatric patients.

Our Name

Our Name

“The ‘Treehouse’ name comes from Lu Haussler, wife of UC Santa Cruz Distinguished Professor of Biomolecular Engineering David Haussler. She chose it as a visual metaphor for a branching project that is also a house, or destination, for gathering and sharing all pediatric cancer genomes.”
— UCSC Magazine, Dan White, March 2016
